Financial health and stability

As the #1 U.S. brokerage term life insurance provider based on new coverage, we pay more than $1B in claims every year to more than 4,200 families and businesses across the country.1 As part of the 9th largest insurance company in the world, we have the power of our parent company, Legal & General Group Plc’s $1.7T total assets under management and more than 185 years of success on our side.

Reinvesting in communities

We are taking financial action to tackle climate change, rethinking retirement, and investing in long-term assets that benefit everyone from housing to renewable energy. Our investments across clean energy, housing, specialty commercial real estate, and SME (small and medium enterprises) finance create alternative assets that benefit the communities we serve.

Ranks and ratings3

You and your clients can trust our commitment to their financial protection.

  • 95 COMDEX Score
A COMDEX score is a ranking composite of ratings received from A.M. Best, Standard & Poor’s, Moody’s, and Fitch. It illustrates our standing on a scale of 1 to 100, relative to other rated companies. We proudly hold one of the highest rankings in our industry.
  • AA- Fitch and S&P
Fitch and S&P make up two of the worlds “big three” agencies that analyze a company’s financial strength and ability to repay debt without concern. They provide an important service that protects lenders, borrowers, and especially consumers in the insurance industry.
  • A+ A.M. Best
Like a consumer credit rating agency, A.M. Best is another independent firm that measures an insurance company’s ability to pay claims and meet other financial responsibilities.

Get started with Legal & General America

Our distribution network is made up of independent life brokerage general agencies (BGAs). You may already be working with an agency that represents us. A good way to get started is to call your BGA and ask if Legal & General America (Banner Life/William Penn) is among its carriers. If we are, your BGA can provide you the documents necessary to apply for an agent/broker agreement.

If your agency does not represent Legal & General America, an alternative is to network with business associates. One of them may have an established relationship with a general agency that represents us. Talk with your colleagues to learn more about the agency and to find out who to contact regarding an appointment.
